American hip hop artists Redman and Method Man were both featured on Tupac Single “Got My Mind made Up”.
Firstly, a little history about “Got My Mind Made Up”. The single had been a coordinated effort between various artists. The rappers had never got the opportunity to work with Tupac Directly.
Secondly, after Tupac was discharged from jail in 1995. Tupac had been looking some material for his up and coming album. Daz had gone to Dr Dre home and left his tape. Tupac heard it and loved it.Tupac had said he had a melody with Redman and Method prepared. Inspectah Deck was featured on the Original as did Lady of Rage.
Daz Dillinger has said that Tupac was not aware that he was the artist behind the beat. Tupac recorded the verse over at Dr Dre house and the rest is history.
The single Got my mind made up was released in 1996. The single is featured on Tupac’s “All Eyez on Me” album. The album debuted Number 1 on the Billboard 200 and reach X2 Platinum status. It was released a a time of great tensions between the East and West coast.
Thirdly, In a recent interview with HipHopDx Redman stated he has never got any recognition or plaque for his contribution. He had quite recently recorded the tune and after that it was discharged.
In Conclusion, Redman says that he simply needs his acknowledgment for his association. He additionally might want a plaque.
